Bear Safety Notice

Bear Safety Bulletin
Bear Wise Bulletin

Over the past week we have received numerous calls regarding bear sightings in town. We’re sure you as residents have seen or heard that there are bears moving through and possibly living in Halifax now.

This is exciting and new to all of us since we have never dealt with bears on a regular basis. However, it’s going to be a bit of a learning curve.  We are asking residents to please practice safety precautions if they come across a bear, or hear that one is in the area. The flyer covers some basics to keep in mind. We would like to stress NOT to approach or go looking after bears. This is common sense and more of that needs to be utilized in regard to them. It would be extremely unfortunate for a bear to be hurt because of a lack of common sense and even more unfortunate if one of our residents was hurt because of poor choices.  You can also get more information on becoming "Bear wise" at https://www.bearwise.org/bearwise-communities/

Please feel free to continue to enjoy our new neighbors from a distance. Be mindful of their location so as to give them space, not crowd it, so we can continue to keep everyone safe.
