Annual Town Meeting - Monday, May 12th, 2025

The town of Halifax will hold its annual Town Meeting on Monday, May 12th, 2025, at 6:30 pm at the Halifax Elementary School, 464 Plymouth Street. 

The meeting warrant and applicable supporting documents are available for download using the link(s) below. Copies of the meeting warrant will be mailed to all residents via U.S. Postal Mail. All supporting documents will be provided in person at the Town Meeting.

Check-In Process & Transportation

The check-in process for this year’s annual Town Meeting will begin at 5:30 pm at the Halifax Elementary School, 464 Plymouth Street, to ensure a smooth and efficient experience for all residents and guests.

We ask that anyone planning to attend the May 12th, 2025, annual Town Meeting arrive as early as possible so that the Town Meeting can be called to order at or as close to the scheduled time of 6:30 pm.

The town will also be offering transportation to and from the Town Meeting for any resident that is interested, especially those who have limited access to transportation or have difficulty traveling during the evening hours that would otherwise deter their ability to attend. Requests for transportation services to attend the Town Meeting may be made by contacting the Council on Aging by calling (781) 293-7313 or e-mailing [email protected] by Friday, May 9th, 2025, at 4 pm.

Residents are encouraged to visit the town meetings page on the town’s website and also sign-up for Halifax Notify to receive the most up-to-date information regarding the annual Town Meeting. A quick registration option for Halifax Notify is by opting-in to receive SMS notifications for general town notices and alerts by texting HFXMA to 67283.

Attendance and Participation

Residents must be registered to vote in the Town of Halifax to be allowed to participate in Town Meeting. To register to vote or for questions regarding voter registration, please contact the Town Clerk's Office by calling (781) 293-7970 or e-mailing [email protected]. The voter registration deadline to participate in the 2025 Annual Town Meeting is Friday, May 2nd, 2025.

Town Meeting is open to all members of the public (guests), including residents who are not registered to vote and non-residents. Guests are not eligible to vote on matters brought before Town Meeting, but may be granted the ability to speak at the discretion of the moderator. All guests will be seated in a designated area.

Meeting Warrant and Supporting Documents

Citizen petition articles must be submitted to the Town Clerk's Office by 4:30 pm on Tuesday, March 11th, 2025, to be placed on the warrant.

The meeting warrant and applicable supporting documents will be available for download below when the warrant is finalized. Copies of the meeting warrant will be mailed to all households via U.S. Postal Mail. Supporting documents will not be mailed, but will be provided in-person at the Town Meeting.
