Special Town Meeting - Thursday, December 14th, 2023

The Town of Halifax will be holding a Special Town Meeting on Thursday, December 14th, 2023, at 6:30 pm at the Halifax Elementary School, 464 Plymouth Street to vote on three major warrant articles.
- Zoning By-Law changes to allow senior housing and approval of an agreement that will lead to the Construction of a new Council on Aging .
- Revised Regional Schools Agreement with the Silver Lake Regional School District.
- Amendments to the Town’s Compensation and Classification Plan.
Copies of the Meeting Warrant and applicable supporting documents are available online below. Copies of the Meeting Warrant will also be available in-person by visiting the Town Hall, Council on Aging, or Holmes Public Library. All supporting documents will be provided in-person at the Special Town Meeting.
All Halifax registered voters are eligible to attend, vote and participate at these Special Town Meetings. Residents must register to vote at least ten (10) days before the date of the Special Town meeting in order to participate. This year, the deadline is Monday, December 4th, 2023, by 5 pm. Persons who are not registered voters in Halifax are permitted to attend the meeting but must sit in a special, designated section.
