Online Permitting & Licensing - Available Beginning Monday, July 1st, 2024

In support of the Board of Selectmen’s FY 2024 goals established at the beginning of the fiscal year, specifically goal three (3)— […] to identify potential operational and organizational efficiencies, and technology enhancement opportunities which will streamline town processes, increase online service offerings and provide exceptional customer service […], we are excited to announce the launch of Halifax’s new online permitting and licensing system (e-permitting and e-licensing).
Beginning Monday, July 1st, 2024, all newly submitted permitting and licensing applications for the Building Department, Zoning Board of Appeals, and Planning Board, will be submitted through the new online permitting and licensing system—https://www.halifax-ma.org/OPL. The platform being used is a product of OpenGov, a nationally recognized government solutions provider, and is used by many government agencies within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Our new online permitting and licensing system will allow the public to apply for permits and licenses, check the status/progress of submitted applications on-demand, and pay for their permit or license online. Applicants will also now be able to print their permit or license on their own, no longer requiring applicants to pick up their permit or license at the Town Hall. Additional features and functions will be introduced throughout the implementation process.
E-permitting and e-licensing will be more streamlined than the existing paper-based process—making it easier and more accessible for the public to receive municipal services and for the Town to move one step closer towards reducing its paper consumption and enhancing its operational services to better serve the public.
