An important message from Selectman Selig

press-release

Dear Halifax Community,

During our Selectmen’s meeting on Thursday, August 25th, the town of Halifax accepted the resignations of our Town Administrator Marty Golightly as well as our Select-chair Ashley DiSesa and Selectman Alex Meade. While our Town Administrator’s resignation was expected, the resignations of DiSesa and Meade caught us all unaware. I won’t try to sugar coat this; it is a tough pill to swallow and an unprecedented day in our town’s history, but I want the people of Halifax to know this--we will be following the proper procedures going forward and we will get through this.

Town Departments will continue to function. Our Police, Fire and other departments will continue to provide the level of service always provided and Halifax will continue to be the town we are all proud of.

We will be holding a Special Town Election in the coming months to fill our new vacancies and information will be coming out in the following days on the specific times and dates. If you feel like you can help us, l urge you to consider taking out nomination papers.

This town is full of some incredible people and they will help us get through this. We may be in some rough water; however, there’s no way of getting around it. I know in my heart of hearts that we will not only weather the storm, but we will come out stronger on the other side.

I will update you with more information as soon as it becomes available.

Thank you,

Jonathan A. Selig
