Energy Facilities Siting Board - Procedures for Enhancing Public Awareness of and Participation in its Proceedings

The Energy Facilities Siting Board (Siting Board) is pleased to announce that it has opened an inquiry focused on increasing public awareness of and participation in its proceedings.  Through this inquiry, the Siting Board will explore opportunities to increase stakeholder engagement and ensure that all people —regardless of English proficiency— have been provided with the same opportunity to participate in its proceedings.  Please find attached Notice of Inquiry and Notice of the proceeding for additional information.

Over the course of the last year, the Siting Board, in collaboration with the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA), has been developing an agency-specific environmental justice strategy, consistent with EEA’s Environmental Justice Policy and the comprehensive climate legislation recently signed into law.  The Siting Board opens this inquiry as part of these efforts to explore new strategies to further public and stakeholder involvement in its proceedings.

The Siting Board is seeking broad public engagement and is publicizing this effort through this initiative. More information is available via the attachment.
