Dog Licenses Past Due

State law requires that all dogs must be licensed in their town.  Halifax requires all dogs to be licensed by July 1st of each year. The license is valid from July 1st through June 30th of the following year.   Any owner who has not licensed their dog by September 14th, a late fee of $50.00 plus the cost of the license will be charged.  All owners with unlicensed dogs as of November 1st may be issued a court citation in the amount of $25.00, plus the late fee of $50.00 and the cost of the license.

An up-to-date rabies inoculation certificate is required to obtain a license.  Please call the Town Clerk’s office to verify that the certificate on file is up to date.

The cost of a license is $15.00 for male/female dogs and $10.00 for neutered/spayed dogs.

The office hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

You may request a license online at https://www.halifax-ma.org/home/pages/online-payments, by mail or by using the drop-box outside of Town Hall. Please send a check payable to the Town of Halifax, a copy of the rabies inoculation certificate and a self-addressed stamped envelope.
