Dog License Renewals

two-dogs

Dog licenses renewals have been mailed out. State law requires that all dogs that have received their vaccinations and/or are six months of age or older must be licensed in their town. Halifax requires that all dogs be licensed by July 1 of each year. The license is valid from July 1 through June 30 of the following year. Any owner who has not licensed their dog by September 1 will be charged a late fee of $5 plus the cost of the license. If the dog is not licensed by September 15, a late fee of $25 will be charged plus the cost of the license. All owners with unlicensed dogs as of November 1 may be issued a court citation in the amount of $25 plus the late of $25 and the cost of the license. An up-to-date rabies inoculation certificate is required to obtain a license. (If in doubt, please call the Town Clerk's Office at 781-293-7970 to verify that the certificate on file is up-to-date.) The cost of a license is $15 for male/female dogs and $10 for neutered/spayed dogs. The Town Clerk's Office is open Monday-Thursday from 8am to 4pm. You may request a license by mail or by using the drop-off box by the parking lot door of Town Hall. Please send a check payable to the Town of Halifax, a copy of the rabies inoculation certificate and a self-addressed stamped envelope.
