Committees in Search of Members

The Halifax Board of Selectmen is seeking Halifax residents to serve on the Halifax Finance Committee. The Finance Committee is a seven-member, appointed board which presents an annual operating budget to the Town at the Annual Town Meeting and makes recommendations on all other articles at the Annual Town Meeting and all Special Town Meetings. The Finance Committee meetings are generally held each Monday at 7pm from January to May or June and usually twice a month during the rest of the year. No specific financial experience is necessary.

The Halifax Board of Selectmen is seeking a Halifax resident to serve as one of Halifax's members on the Silver Lake Regional School District Committee. Members of the Committee include representatives from Halifax, Plympton, and Kingston. Regular meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7:00pm but special meetings may be held from time to time and members also serve on sub-committees that hold meetings on various dates and times.

The Halifax Board of Selectmen is seeking at least two individuals to serve on the Halifax Cultural Council. The Council's primary task is to award grants through the Local Cultural Council (funding comes from the Massachusetts Cultural Council). Meetings are held once or twice a year on dates and times convenient to the members.

In order to award this year's grants, the Council must have a minimum of five members. Currently, the Council has just three, so at least two more individuals need to be appointed.
