Beautification Committee "OLAUG" Presentation - March 13th, 2024

news-and-notices

The Halifax Beautification Committee will be holding a presentation by the organization, Old Ladies Against Underwater Garbage (OLAUG) followed by a Q&A session on Wednesday, March 13th, 2024, at 6:30 pm in the Selectmen's Meeting Room, 499 Plymouth Street.

In 2017, Old Ladies Against Underwater Garbage (OLAUG) was formed to remove trash and debris from ponds on Cape Cod from Falmouth to Chatham using small teams of swimmers, ages 64 to 84. Throughout the process, OLAUG swimmers discover and properly discard items such as beer cans, golf balls, fishing lures, waterlogged dog toys, hats, jackets, shoes, and occasionally a cell phone or box of spent fireworks.

The Beautification Committee invites the public to meet the OLAUG and engage in conversations that help keep trash out of our ponds, lakes, and rivers. Light refreshments will be provided.
