Town of Halifax - Monponsett Pond Status - September 3

On Tuesday, September 1st, MDPH collected a water sample from West Monponsett Pond at 4th Ave Beach in Halifax. Laboratory analysis showed cyanobacteria levels of 132,000 cells/ml, above the MDPH guideline level of 70,000 cells/ml. Microcystin toxin was not detected.

MDPH recommends that the current advisory remain in place. MDPH sampling will occur at the waterbody again on September 8th.

The East Monponsett Pond remains open and there are lots of people working on restoring the West Pond and the whole watershed. Please find out more at the Silver Lake High School in Kingston on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 6:30 in the second floor meeting room. You will be updated on state and federal grants helping us to figure out more sustainable ways to get that water flowing and restored!
