Seasonal Laborer (Cemetery)
Cemetery Department
Part-Time / 20 hours per week
The Town of Halifax seeks qualified candidates for the part-time position of Seasonal Laborer for the Cemetery Department, from June to August, who will be responsible for assisting with the care and upkeep of all Town cemeteries and other Town property such as cutting grass, trimming around headstones, markers, trees, buildings, ball fields and plantings.
Additional responsibilities include branch and debris removal, digging, filling, and seeding graves, and setup and takedown for lowering device for funerals. Outdoor work is performed under varying weather conditions in which the employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions. Knowledge of and experience with operating various landscaping equipment such as mowers, leaf vacuums and blowers, weed whackers, etc.
The position may be required to perform tasks for or related to the Highway Department, on occasion, deemed necessary by the Highway Surveyor.
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and hold a valid Massachusetts driver’s license. A CORI check (background check) and physical may be required prior to employment.
Pay rate: $18.51 per hour (Grade 1). This position is not eligible for benefits.
