Description of Services

The Town Clerk is the chief election official, recording official, registrar of voters, public records official, and licensing officer. The Town Clerk oversees the polling places and the conduct of all elections and election-related activity, and records of all actions of Town Meeting.  The Clerk's Office maintains the municipal code, the official town bulletin board, oaths of office, appointments, and resignations of all Town Officials.  The Clerk's Office issues licenses and permits, including marriage licenses, business certificates, dog licenses, fuel storage permits, and raffle/bazaar permits.

Open Meeting Law

All Boards and Committees are required to post their meetings at least forty-eight(48) hours in advance of the meeting (forty-eight hours excludes weekends and holidays) with the Town Clerk's Office. In conformance with the Open Meeting Law, this information can be accessed 24/7 on the Town website at http://www.halifax-ma.org.  Meeting Notices and Agendas are also posted on the Town Hall digital bulletin board.  The Town Clerk's Office has additional information regarding the open meeting law if needed.
