2020 Shakespeare Festival
Thursday, Feb 13, 6:00 PM - 8:00 pm

The 2020 Shakespeare Festival is just around the corner. To celebrate and honor the Bard (a little over 400 years after his death in 1616), seniors Caitlyn Beckwith, Toni Mello, and Avery Saad have created a play that combines elements of Shakespearean tragedies encountered in the English curriculum (Romeo & Juliet, Macbeth, and Hamlet) into one creative story. There are 66 students involved in the production this year.

As a Shakespeare Festival tradition, students will be performing the play five times on the day before February vacation–Friday, February 14th.

A free public performance will take place on Thursday, February 13th at 6 PM in the RJK Auditorium at the high school.

The students are really excited about this show and look forward to presenting it to the SL community and the Lake.

As always, thank you for your support!

A Brief Synopsis

You may be familiar with the classic Shakespearean tragedies, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, and Hamlet, but things are about to get ShakeSwitched! When the three witches from Macbeth decide to switch characters into different plays, Juliet, Lady Macbeth, and Hamlet find themselves in some pretty wacky situations--but there’s a catch! Only those three characters know they’ve been mixed up! Yep! Romeo pines after Hamlet, Juliet convinces Macbeth to maybe not murder the King of Scotland, Lady Macbeth stabs basically everyone in Denmark, and plenty more crazy antics happen--including loveable characters, such as the triumphant return of Ros and Guil, witches, and even talking plants? ShakeSwitched is sure to be the hot ticket for the SL community and English classes before February break!
