Voting and Elections
Elections, both Town and State, and registration are primarily the responsibility of the Town Clerk and the Board of Registrars. The Town Election is held each year on the Saturday following the 2nd Monday in May. The State primary is held in September in even-numbered years and the State general election is held in November on the Tuesday following the 1st Monday of the month in even-numbered years. The Presidential primary is held on various dates (generally in February or March) in years divisible by four. Please check the links listed above for the next dates for all these elections and registration deadlines.
Voting hours are: State elections - 7:00am to 8:00pm; Town Elections - 10:00am to 6:00pm.
Elections are held in the Gym at the Halifax Elementary School, 464 Plymouth Street. Town Meetings are held, usually, in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Elementary School. Meetings with a large number of atttendees are held in the Gym.
Nomination Papers - State Primary - Deadline
Nomination papers for the State Primary are due by Tuesday, May 5th at 5 p.m. The Town Hall is closed to the public and the Clerk’s office is working remotely. Town Election - June 20, 2020
Election Day for Town positions is Saturday, June 20, 2020 at the Halifax Elementary School Gym from 10am to 6pm. If you wish to vote absentee, please contact the Town Clerk's Office at 781-293-7970. A sample ballot will be available before the election.
