Monponsett Pond/Stump Brook Presentations - Updated

The Halifax Board of Health will host a series of presentations about on-going projects at Monponsett Pond and Stump Brook (the outlet from Monponsett Pond) on Thursday, September 10 starting at 6:30pm. The presentations will occur in the large meeting/conference room on the 2nd floor of Silver Lake High School, 200 Pembroke Street, Kingston, MA.

Three topics will be discussed:

1.      The feasibility of placing automated controls on the Brockton dam at Stump Brook, funded by a SWMI grant (Sustainable Water Management Initiative) by DEP.

2.      Results from a Massachusetts Division of Ecological Restoration funded study to evaluate the potential of different scenarios of water supply management by Brockton to increase flow through Stump Brook and to improve water quality in Monponsett Pond.

3.      EPA will present the results of their cost-benefit modeling tool and will offer explanations of green infrastructure options, stormwater best management practices and tradeoffs between water storage and flooding costs/risks in the Monponsett Watershed.

This event is free and open to the public.
