Tax Due Dates

Real Estate, Personal Property & Water bills are mailed semi-annually. Real Estate and Personal Property bills are mailed in October and April. Water bills usually go out in June and December. Recycling bills are out in early fall and Motor Vehicle Excise bills are mailed throughout the year.   All bills are payable on or by the due date indicated on the bill. Late payments will be assessed interest calculated back to the date of mailing in accordance with the MA General Law.

Payments must be received in the Collector's Office by 4PM on the due date to avoid additional charges. Please enclose the top portion of the three part bill to ensure proper credit.  Postmarks are not accepted as receipt dates.

Effective 8/1/23 the demand fee for all past due bills will increase to $10.

If your taxes are paid by a bank or mortgage company, please make sure they have the correct tax information for your account.

Please do not post date personal checks. Checks are deposited daily. If a check is dishonored by a bank for any reason, a returned check fee of $25.00 will be added.

Checks should be made payable to “Town of Halifax”

If you use your bank's “On-Line” payments you should be aware that the Town is actually sent a check from your bank. It may take up to two weeks for the Collector's Office to receive the payment.

Online payments through Unibank can be made until midnight on the due date without incurring any additional interest charges. Once the due date has passed on any bill it can no longer be paid online.
