On behalf of the members of the Halifax Police Department, I want to welcome you to the Halifax Police Department’s webpage. My name is Joao A. Chaves, Chief of Police for the Town of Halifax. Our team of dedicated Police Officers and support staff works diligently to protect our community. We are proud to have earned a trusting relationship with our residents and we will work together to maintain this partnership.
Our department members will continue to strive for effective communication, transparency and mutual respect in all that we do. I look forward to working with the residents, business owners, community organizations and political leaders as well as those who choose to visit our website.
We pledge to deliver the highest quality law enforcement to the resident of Halifax. This can only be accomplished when the Police and the Community work together in addressing crime and quality of life issues that affect us all. I promise to lead this Department with the highest standards of integrity and professionalism. The Halifax Police Department fully embraces the tenets of community policing in our everyday operations. The members of our team strive to be the best they can be and will continue to perform at the highest caliber pursuant to our community policing mission.
