West Monponsett Pond is closed indefinitely due to high algae counts. The Dolichospermum taxa are known for their production of several cyanotoxins: microcystin (liver toxin), Anatoxin (targets the nerve synapse), nodularin (liver toxin), and saxitoxin (nerve toxin). Humans should not boat or swim in the Pond. Dogs should not be allowed to enter into the Pond nor drink water from the Pond.
