Voluntary Fragrance Policy - Town Hall

news-notices

At its meeting on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, the Halifax Board of Selectmen reiterated the Town's voluntary policy asking that visitors to Town Hall please refrain from wearing perfumes, colognes, or using scented products such as after-shave, hair spray, etc. while visiting Town Hall for the safety and comfort of those with chemical and environmental sensitivities. The Board reiterated the policy because fifteen employees at Town Hall stated that this has become a real health concern for some employees who work in the building. The chemicals and odors from perfumes, etc. can cause flare-ups of allergies, headaches, sore throats, and asthma. The Board hopes that if everyone is aware of the terrible effect that this has on others, that visitors, including other town employees and officials, would be willing, and even happy, to refrain from using scented products especially if they are frequently visiting the Town Hall.
