Single-Use and Reusable Bags - By-Law Going Back Into Effect

The Halifax Beautification Committee has been notified that the Commonwealth of Massachusetts has rescinded its orders that temporary put aside municipal by-laws and ordinances concerning the single-use plastic bags, including the Halifax by-law on this subject. The Beautification Committee understands that there will a certain amount of transition as stores work to comply with the by-law. The Committee expects that all stores will be able to comply with the by-law no later than August 17, 2020. Also, effective immediately, shoppers may use reusable bags at retail establishments since Governor Baker rescinded his temporary order banning the use of reusable bags.  If you have any questions, please contact Jeanne Kling at [email protected]
